Looking for a brilliant Welsh festival experience? Look no further. Welcome to The Good Life Experience.
The Good Life Experience is the brainchild of Cerys Matthews MBE, Steve Abbott and Charlie and Caroline Gladstone. If an idea fits with their idea of The Good Life, it’ll feature at the festival.
The festival unfolds over three days on the Hawarden Estate in Flintshire, North Wales. The grounds themselves make for great exploring on the Friday, before the festival has really got going.
Here’s our rundown of all that is great about this eclectic little festival.
Even better? They’ve agreed to give Discover Cymru fans a 10% discount on tickets. Find out more at the bottom of the page.
The thinking behind The Good Life
The boutique festival launched in 2014, to a lucky crowd of just 2000 people. They gathered for a weekend of campfire cooking, great grub, axe throwing, standup comedy, expertly curated beers, talks from explorers, raucous music, sing-a-longs, poetry – for kids and adults alike.
The founders are guided by exploring all that is good in life – family, friends, the great outdoors, even greater food and drink – and proper music. There are no VIP areas at The Good Life Experience, and they’ve done away with backstage as well. The performers are all there because they want to be.
Sounds pretty idyllic, right?
And we still haven’t got to what’s on this year.

Activities at The Good Life Experience
Once again we could get pretty carried away here. If, like us, you like a weekend full of activity, you’re probably not going to be disappointed.
There’s so much to do, from tree climbing to the free vintage fairground. There’s yoga to be yoga-ed, a market place full of carefully curated suppliers, axe chucking and archery.
Plus, if you’re a bit obsessed with Instagram like us, pro Instagrammer Sara Tasker will teach you how to up your Insta-game.
Let’s not forget the kids
There’s nothing worse than dragging the kids around a festival site with nothing to cheer them up. The Good Life has got you covered.
There’s a host of activities, workshops and attractions all aimed at your miniature festival goers. From a play fort to an adventure playground via their very own children’s cafe, you’re probably not going to see much of your offspring.
Which leaves more time for living that good life. Win win.
